It’s Time to Get Your Flu Vaccine

Nov 06

“Why should people get vaccinated against the flu?

Influenza is a potentially serious disease that can lead to hospitalization and sometimes even death. Every flu season is different, and influenza infection can affect people differently, but millions of people get the flu every year, hundreds of thousands of people are hospitalized and thousands or tens of thousands of people die from flu-related causes every year. An annual seasonal flu vaccine is the best way to help protect against flu. Vaccination has been shown to have many benefits including reducing the risk of flu illnesses, hospitalizations and even the risk of flu-related death in children.”

FDA Rotavirus info for parents

GSK, one of the manufacturers of rotavirus vaccine has been notified that using a newly invented technique, there may be the presence of a virus that, while harmless to humans, was not expected in their preparation.

This has prompted the suspension of all administration of this vaccine immediately. There is no concern or risk to any children, or families that have had this vaccine, but it is best to be very conservative and hold off on any new doses until more is known about this issue.

We have already moved over to a different vaccine in our patients and do not expect to have any problems or concerns with continuation of coverage.

While no risk is perceived in this finding, this action is taken to reinforce the fact that when new information is found about found out anything that involves your child’s health and safety, that we at PMA will take immediate action to inform and protect your family. We will update you as we have more information and news.
